My Little One
You are the Little One
You came as nothing, as meat and bone
 You came as an idea
 No thoughts
 No mind
Barely a being, yet such wondering eyes
You came into our world vulnerable
 Crying
 Screaming with life
 Rasping for air
 Craving for a mother
Longing for comfort, not knowing what comfort was
 You, at your birth
 Raised your pink little fingers
 And grabbed one of mine
 You became beautiful and serene
 Your hair, like liquid chocolate
 Your step, graceful and petite
 Your voice, arrogant and unrefined
You came into our world and brought kindness
You gave us a meaning we had lost
 You came to embody innocence
You came to embody the sister I had longed for
 You, my angel
 Gave fire to my loneliness
 You are my Little One
You came out of darkness, bearing light
You took a breath of every soul around you
With it, you became a part of me
 And forever will you be
 My baby sister
