I’m homeless
I’ve no where to go
Beggin in front of the laundry store on 6th street
Coins falling into my hat
And always a few disgusted looks my way
Counting my money
Barely a dollar today
I take all my savings this week
Buy me some food and a bottle of booze
I see another man just like me
Poor, forgotten, no where to go
Looking at me with a pleading eye
An empty bowl in one hand,
A battered sign in the other
“will work for money”
But I don’t give him nothing
Even though my pockets jingle with change
So I saunter by, eyes on the sky.
I’s a harsh world,
A free for all fall
And I, I don’t want to be the one to fall
falling into a an endless lull
The next morning
I wake up to cars honking above
I open my eyes,
It’s time to move
I see a sign lying beside me,
Will work for food
Suddenly, my pockets feel empty
And my money is gone
I have nowhere to go.
It’s a harsh world,
But I have to move on
