In the beginning we were 5
We were inseparable
We met on the first day of Kindergarten
We grew up together
Always there for each other when times were hard
When death seemed to be the end
When the loss was too much to bear
We were there for each other
College came and we went our separate ways yes
But we always stayed in touch
We were still inseparable
Then one died
Her death was not her fault in the least
But it still hit hard
Then just a little later
Another one of us died
Leaving us to find that death will never get easier
Those deaths left the 3 of us wondering if we will ever be normal again
If we will ever feel whole again
Just as things were looking up for those of us left
Another on us died
That tore me apart the most
Also that left two of us
Two to cherish the memories of what they had
The friendship
We will always be friends
Just not able to see each other for a little bit of time
But I know that they are waiting for the two of us to join them
But they also are waiting for us to live out the rest of our lives
And fulfill our dreams
In the beginning we were five
In the end we were two
But we were and always will be
