When did she get so tall?

Her curls still red,
but ironed straight.
Straight as her confident shoulders.
They shift so slightly as she walks.
She walks with great big grown up steps.

Grown up steps?
Who taught this little girl
to walk so big?
Surely not me,
with my frightened trot
and loose puppy trips?
And her brother the same,
golden hair,
golden heart,
golden retriever gait.

She moves somewhere between adult and giraffe,
feet hungry for whatever
the future may bring,
that ambitious red head
reaching for the newest vision.

When did she get so tall?

You are so sweet! :D It's so nice to hear from you again! And don't worry, your response makes perfect sense! Thank you so much! I'm really glad you liked it! I can't wait to read more of your writing :)

When i was little/I used to point a chubby finger toward the dark sky/And ask my father/why some stars moved and others didn’t/He would laugh and explain that some were airplanes/I still wish on them today ~ Laugh-It-Out

If love produced a blossom/I’d take it in my palm/What a blessing, the bright color!/How soothing, such a balm!/I’d keep a petal for my own/The rest, drop from my hands/For such a flower would multiply/And populate the lands~ thesilentraven
And I began to rival legends/Long entombed before my birth./But for all my much envied fame/The lust for more would not abate./The plaques and prizes with my name/Will, like all things, disintegrate. ~ TheEpic95 now known as Helena_Noel

Emily! It's been long! How long? I don't remember, but what matters is that I'm back and the first article of yours that greets me is this amazing beautiful sweet thing I don't even have the sense to write something proper as it has made me so happy as I read it and I wanted to write something now and not after so hopefully this won't be confusing or ridiculous.  This poem absolutely deserves that red check! My favourite part was how you started and ended with the same sentence "when did she get so tall?" which I loved. You keep up this amazing writing! Your sister is very lucky! To have an elder sister like you.
