The Dark Stars
A heart in the chamber
 locked away shut.
 Her life flashed before her
 is too short to cut.
 Her eyes in the mirror
 stare at a stranger
 unknown to the reflection
 that hides behind layers.
 Her beautiful brown hair
 has vanished from its place
and her body is slowly giving
 to the dreary tired face.
 Her frightful tears drown
 in bitter despair
but her mind will not focus
on what is determined as fair.
 She sees the sun falling
away from the shadows of day
 and she hears birds sleeping
with nothing more left to say.
 The stars come up
 from the depths of sadness
 as she nervously laughs
 at the image of madness.
 She must be crazy
 to think that maybe
the stars will listen and say
 “Make a wish, baby.”
