The air melted around her like gumdrops in the hot sun. Her face burned like an ant under a magnifying glass as she jogged in the surrounding heat. Sweat dripped down the sides of her forehead in single thick drops as her ponytail swished quickly behind her head. The sun burnt down on her back, slowly scorching her skin until the imprint of where her shirt sleeves rested on her arms was set. The whistle screamed in her ear as a constant pressing reminder that time had disappeared as she ran along the fiery-red-stained track. Her shoes pounded against the dirt, leaving a shoe print and thump thump sound with every long leap between footsteps. Red powder dusted her dirty white shoes until they had an orange tint to them.
