When Life was a Sunflower
Life was a big yellow sunflower
With rainbows in every corner
And the world seemed to reach out to give you a big hug
With no room left for mourners
And I remember the days when I would wake up
The sunshine streamin’ down my face
And mommy would say, “Baby its gonna be a great day!”
And it always was (or something that rhymes with face)
It always (drag) was
I remember when there was no war
No evil or hate
And when there was only I love you
And no I hate you, go away
I used to see unicorns in the sky
And fairies and butterflies
They would always say hey girl you can do anything
And their words were never full of lies
And now all I see is darkness
The clouds raining on the sunny day
And now I know when mommy was lying
Because not everything is okay
Not everything is ok
I remember when I would walk into the room
Mommy’s face stained with tears
I would say to her why are you so sad
Then she would smile and say baby there is nothing to fear
Nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, baby,
Nothing to fear
I remember the days when I actually believed it
That the sun would always shine
And now that sun has disappeared
The sun that used to be all mine
It used to be all mine
Life was a big yellow sunflower
With rainbows in every corner
And now the sunflower has dried
And all I see are mourners
