Believing in that which is not seen

Still in the presence of doubt,

It grows the best in greatest pain

And refuses to walk out.

Described as the thing with song and feathers

And noted for its shine,

Behind the clouds in the brutal weather

And it does not cost a dime.

Author of life and everything pure,

That which replaces self,

The reason for passion, the all-purpose cure

Stronger than death itself.

When all is said and all is done,

The greatest of all is the third one.

The author's comments:

1 Corinthians 13:13 says that faith, hope, and love remain, but the greatest of these is love. The first, second, and third stanzas in the poem represent faith, hope, and love respectively, but the greatest of all is the third one: love.
