I wish I was a monarch
I wish I was a Monarch, flying through the clear blue sky,
Because I could soar from my problems, saying goodbye.
From Mexico to New Zealand, I would be free.
Catching wanderer’s eyes as I sleep on a peach tree.
Specks of midnight black pattern each vivid orange wing,
The wind pushing past me, makes me want to sing.
As free as I am, caution lurks in my mind,
Predators may lurch any moment from behind.
But for now I am safe in my home, up in the clouds,
My presence, making me a star in big crowds.
As I am, my lifespan may be short,
But the freedom I feel is the greatest support.
So, I wish to be a monarch, high in the sky,
Cause life right now makes me want to cry.
