Let go of me and I'll let go of you
Take me out of your long-faithful thought
These things, they are our duty to see through
For freedom comes with ache and can't be bought
Oh dearest, how I've always loved you so
But time has not permitted much for us
It's only brought us down to des'prate lows
And silences from distance's sharp "hush"
Your friendship none could ever full replace
Your place in my heart never to be filled
However, separation brings to face
A bond that's ever slowly being killed
With love, I ask, release me from these things
So both of us can reclaim mended wings...
