Leaving
Bittersweet joy sweeps through my veins,
Causing a natural pain in my core.
The companions throughout high school that I’ve gained,
I now must leave on a distant shore.
My time has come.
But make or break merely isn’t enough now.
Tears flow in an abundant sum.
We’ve made it through, but how…
How can we part when we’ve come so far?
The memories we made are dashed in the sand.
And washed away by the waves of maturity.
Reaching forth with a shaky hand,
Grasping for a future and security
I leave the door to me memories ajar.
