Lips that Lie
In my darkness, you were my morning light.
You held me up, taking my blind despair,
but then she beckoned you into the night
and off you went, for me, without a care.
My heart died, void of its rightful malice.
In my darkness, my soul, it wept and cried,
as you danced with her, my heart became callous.
But oh! How I longed for your lips that lied!
Your love was as if only a summer’s dream.
Each morning, I wake in darkness and tears.
Your strong arms held me up, though it may seem,
you planned to leave to feed my hungry fears.
You danced off with her; you left me alone;
your love left me to suffer on my own.
