Mother
She can harness the world on her shoulders
and she can carry our hearts on her sleeve.
Of our fragile lives she is the holder
and there is no one to grant her reprieve.
For a life is a daunting possession
Whether it’s yours or another’s you keep
Of weakness, she’ll make no confession
She will save teary eyes for her sleep
There are days when the future looks dismal
There are days it appears blindingly bright
But the love that she bears is abysmal
and for the brighter future, she’ll fight.
Many sacrifices for another
That is the life of a loving mother.
