A Broken Heart
My reddened eyes began to weep again.
My heart was shattered, utterly broken,
As the pain sunk in, blood slowed in my vein.
I realized that you had not misspoken.
The truth in your eyes shot chills down my back,
Now I knew you were abandoning me.
Numbness moved in as I dodged your attack,
Indifference seeped through you eerily.
Having to breathe without you beside me,
My aching lungs filled; relief did not come.
There was not escape from this vacancy,
I will now be forever unwelcome.
No longer feeling that crippling pain,
My shame turned to joy as wisdom was gained.
