Come Home
He has left and now my heart is heavy:
Down it’s pulled as if anchor to a ship.
I cannot muster words nor act normally,
How it pained me to hear what left his lips.
And often do I pray he will return,
That the salty tides will bring him home to me
But all I do is sit and wait and yearn;
I fear he won’t cross back Poseidon’s sea.
But his presence still follows like my shadow
And seldom does it wander off and leave,
And often do I see us in the meadow
In which we shared a kiss by the oak tree.
Filled with hope, I fake I see you coming
I trick myself, but all that’s there is nothing.
