Do you know Jim Morrison? “Greek god” beautiful, rock star? Have you seen him? And do you know that he wrote poetry? He lived on a rooftop the summer of 1965, writing poetry and living free. So the story goes, he ran into Ray Manzarek, future piano player of the Doors, meditating on Venice Beach and sang him “Moonlight Drive”. Eventually they formed the band, and well, the rest is history. But while Jim’s lyricism is well acknowledged, his brilliant poetry is not. From “An American Prayer” to the books he wrote, his mysticism and honesty are stunning and hard to forget. I suggest you look him up, and if you don’t understand the first time, try again.
