First day of high school, most people expect it to be a pretty laid back day. However if
you have a teacher like Mr.Reitemeyer then there's no such thing as a laid back day. Unless of
course he's not there.
After my first class with Mr.Reitemeyer I knew he would be different from the math
teachers I've had in the past. Mainly because of his teaching style. Most math teachers just give
you the information and tell you ways to memorize it, but not Mr. Reitemeyer. Mr. Reitemeyer's
teaching style is kinda like putting together a jigsaw puzzle. He lets you sit there and struggle to
put our background knowledge together to learn something new. If we get stuck or frustrated to
the point we want to give up he gives us clues to help put two and two together. It’s extremely
rare to see Mr. Reitemeyer just tell use info rather than make us struggle to figure it out ourselves
May seem annoying at first but after 3 years of his class, you get used to it.
Unfortunately on my sophomore year as well as my second year of having his class I was
involved in a terrible car accident causing me to receive  a concussion. Make-up work from
missing two-weeks of school because of it was stressful enough along with the limited amount of
work I was allowed to do at a time. Most of my teachers at the time were quiet understanding
about my condition. However Mr. Reitemeyer was the most understanding since he knew what it
was like to have a concussion. Mr.Reitemeyer took his time in class with me and made and made
sure I understood as much information I was given as possible in the limited amount of time we
had before finals.  Not only did he take time to help me, he also continued to ask how I was
doing and if y condition was getting better. this may not seem like much, but after all its the little
things that count.
I am now currently in his calculus class. Even though I’ve had him two years prior to this

year doesn’t make his class as easy as a walk in the park for me. Mr.Reitemeyer always finds a

way to challenge us and make us think in class. Such as doing  things like quizzing us on things

we’ve learned in the class prior, whether it be a verbal or written quiz we are always being tested

on how much we know. It may seem like he’s doing this to be a mean teacher but I know that

he’s doing this for our own good and to make sure that we actually understand what we are

learning.

After three years with this unique teacher I honestly feel as though I learned more about
math from him than from any of my previous math teachers. I don't think there could be a better
math teacher to expand my knowledge of math and prepare me for the AP calculus exam. which
is why I thank you Mr. Reitemeyer for your unique and affective ways of teaching.
