The Cookie Story
A long time ago at home I, Andrew, was a small and very confused child. One day my mom made some fresh delicious homemade chocolate chip cookies. Now for most kids, a chocolate chip cookie is the best and only good type of cookie. The smell of the cookies when they first come out of the oven was incredible; but that was not the best part. The best part was biting into the crisp yet chewy cookie that tasted ever so amazing. The chocolate oozing out of the cookie while you chew it up, that was the truly the best part. I was expecting to get an amazing, “Yes” when my mom made them, but instead of that, I got a hard, “NO”. This, as a young boy, was heartbreaking. I love those cookies so much but I cannot have one. So, just as any other 5-year-old boy would do is try to reason that it is okay to have a cookie. This is the tactic that I call boiling down. So I started by saying that if I wait it will not taste as good because all of the chocolate will have dried up. But obviously, she kept her same hard answer, “NO”. I was so heartbroken after that answer but I knew that I could not have one. But then I was not as mature as I am now and thought that it would be okay to eat it. I started to contradict myself thinking the following;
“ You should not do it.”
“But it tastes so good and I love those cookies!”
“Mom will not approve.”
“It will be okay if I eat just one.”
So I did. I reached up, nearly burning myself on the hot pan, and grabbed it. I took a huge big bite into it. Now I was a smart boy and thought that my mom was not looking but I was wrong. As soon as I took a bite into it and the chocolate chips in it melted in my mouth and tasted so good, but my mom turned and saw me. I looked at her and just started to cry. I knew that I had done the wrong thing so I went to her and asked for forgiveness. She did forgive me but said that there are consequences for my actions. The next day I was outside pulling weeds for a whole two hours! I was so exhausted after and decided that from now on out I would obey my parents and do as they say.
