The Fire
We all gather around the fire and watch as it consumes the wooden pallets, some of us watch from the tailgate of a truck while others curl up on the chairs surrounding us. Even though the fire provided us with warmth I could still feel the cool air blowing past us and into the dark open fields surrounding us. As I was staring up at the little dipper I noticed my boyfriend suddenly getting up from our spot at the edge of the truck and so I followed his movements with my eyes. I turn my head back for a second and next I know, he and his friends are standing on the burning pallets testing their luck. A couple others and I jokingly yell at them to get off because we can see the fire slowly creeping up the wood towards them like a lion hunting its prey. They all laugh while slowly rising, testing my patience. I can see the ash floating into the dark of the night as they try to shake off the heat forming in their legs. My boyfriend smiles as he grabs another soda for me and climbs back onto the truck to hold me tight as we watch the fire eat away the spot of where he was once standing.

This is a short story about a fun experience I had with my friends, I think this story just shows a lot about who I am as a person and who I love to spend my time with.
