Civil War
He steps onto the battle field
five long years, neither side will yield
his friends and family lie on the ground
once so alive, they are all dead now
such a waste of such fine souls
but as for the reason no one knows
will this go on till none are left?
is there need for all this death?
he once had a wife and two new sons
but the wretched war had left him none
the dogs lap the blood of the dead and dying
some where widows and orphans are left crying
but as a trumpet sounds from afar
he summons his soldiers and his guards
although all this killing has made him feel old and sad
he still fights for his pride and his flag
