Angels
Brocken strings are like a broken heart,
Both don’t work the way they should.
A shoe too big is like a life too large,
They both don’t fit quite right.
Seems like it’s the story of my life.
Fall down, get up, dust myself off again,
Again and again and again.
Angels please watch over me,
it’s late and I just can’t sleep.
A wish a hope for someone to love me for me,
Is wasted hopes and wasted dreams.
Retail and people too,
They get dressed up just to be labelled.
You can’t deny,
That it happens everywhere.
And you can’t deny,
That it makes you cry.
Seems like it’s the story of my life.
Fall down, get up, dust myself off again,
Again and again and again.
Angels please watch over me,
It seems to me the world’s a flowing stream.
It’s beautiful, but we’re polluting it way too fast.
Angels please,
Look down on me.
They keep telling me who I am,
But I don’t give a d***.
How can they know me,
When I don’t even know me yet?
They keep pulling,
The strings keep breaking.
I try to fix them,
Tie them up time after time,
Again and again.
Angels please watch over me,
‘cause I can’t watch over myself.
I can’t see how this is helping me.
Praying,
When I don’t even believe.
But, Angels, Angels, Angels,
Angels please watch over me.
I need help,
So, angels please.
I have wasted hopes and wasted dreams.
Sometimes I wonder who I am.
It surprises me how I’m not bursting at the seams.
I think of how bad I’ve got,
Sometimes I think how rough it’s been.
But then I have the promise of tomorrow,
A happy family,
Some don’t even have that
So, Angels please forget about me,
I’m strong and in pretty good shape.
Angels please look down on them.
The forever fighters,
Those women and men.
They need you more than I ever will.
Angels please don’t worry about me,
I think now,
I can handle myself.
I still don’t know who I am,
But I know...
I will work it out.
