Ms. Jorgensen, my creative writing teacher, told us to write an essay for a  national contest. I don’t like sharing my writing. But I'm all or nothing.

One thing I cannot live without is my car keys. Well okay, not my car keys but the keychains ON my car keys. Well actually I guess just one keychain. Okay I don’t like this. I’m starting over.

I didn't know what to write before and I definitely don't know now. I'll come back later and see if I can come up with something.

Okay. Here I go.

One thing I can not live without is my hot dog. Not exactly what you would expect but I'll explain. On my car keys I have a Lego hot dog keychain. It doesn’t go with any of the other keychains but the meaning behind it is important, you know? 

My boyfriend got it for me four months ago. We went to the mall and I picked out one for him and he picked out the hot dog. I don’t even care that it isn’t cute or that it doesn’t go because HE got it for me. I look at it and it reminds me of him and the care he had for me. He died two weeks later. I miss him every single day. I think he was the one I was going to marry. I used to say I wouldn’t be able to live without him but now I have been for three months. It's crazy how you say something but then you have no control over how God really planned it. So If I had to chose one thing I couldn’t live without I would chose my keychain. Actually, I don’t think the thing I can't live without is the stupid keychain. I think the thing I can't live without is the love from the people I love most.

I still don’t like it. I don’t like talking about it. But it's true so I feel like I should be honest. I'm going to bed now. Maybe this makes sense, maybe not. I was told to do an assignment so I did it. I don’t do things halfway. “All or nothing, Baby”. Ty used to say that all the time.
